Now in its sixth year, Brooklyn Bound is a popular series of concerts at Sō’s working studio in the Navy Yard section of Brooklyn. Casual and intimate, the concerts feature us and emerging ensembles from our local scene. The groups are encouraged to try out new material, premiere new commissions, completely experiment, or just get another performance under their belt.

Tatsuya Nakatani is an avant-garde sound artist and master percussionist originally from Osaka, Japan. Based in the USA since 1994, he lives in Truth or Consequences, NM. Since the late 1990's, Nakatani has released over 80 recordings in the USA and Europe and has toured extensively; performing solo, in collaboration with other artists, and with his large ensemble project - the Nakatani Gong Orchestra. He presents masterclasses, workshops, and lectures across the USA and around the world.

Washington Squared (NYC) and Andrea Tafelski (St.Pete,FL) will be performing during this evening of percussion centric music.
Andrea Tafelski will be performing a solo marimba + singing set during the MIZE gallery MOD ART exhibition opening night next door at WAX + HIVE. Bring a blanket, bring some wine, bring a chair, bring a snack, or all of the above and enjoy the sweet sounds of marimba and voice in the comfortable environment provided at Wax and Hive. Andrea will be performing two sets, one at 5:30pm and another at 7:30pm.
